Devoted Mother, Grandmother and ICU Nurse
WATERBURY - Gloria Giuditta, age 96 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Apple Rehabilitation in Watertown from complications related to the COVID #19 virus. She was the widow of Joseph Giuditta who passed away in 2000.
Gloria was born on August 13, 1924 in Fitchburg MA the daughter of the late Henry and Antoinette (Docekal) Gauthier. Gloria and her husband Joseph raised their family in the East End of Waterbury and she worked for many years as a Nurse at St. Mary's Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit. A celebrity in her own right, Gloria appeared on the TV game show "Number Please" and was an avid traveler, visiting Europe several times. She enjoyed time spent in Cape Cod, was an avid NY Yankees and UCONN Women's fan, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Gloria will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Left to cherish her memory and honor her love and legacy, are her sons Joel (Diane) and William Giuditta (Dana Shepard) both of Middlebury, her grandchildren Dan Giuditta (Sruthi Kainady) of London UK and Becky (Phil) Lichtenwalner of Mountainside NJ, her great-grandchildren Libby and Abby Lichtenwalner, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Gwen Dufrense and Patricia (Francis) Wheelahan.
Due to restrictions in place regarding COVID # 19 services for Mrs. Giuditta will be limited to a graveside interment service on Saturday December 19, 2020 at 12:00 noon in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Meriden Rd Waterbury. Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services have been honored to assist the Giuditta family during this difficult time.
