LOVING MOTHER, GRANDMOTHER, AND GREAT GRANDMOTHER
OAKVILLE – Gloria Iavasile, age 91, of Oakville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024, at Elim Park Heath Care Center in Cheshire after an extended illness. She was the widow of Anthony Iavasile.
Gloria was born on July 4th, 1932, in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late Luigi and Maria (DiPaolo) Galante. She was a graduate of Waterbury Catholic High School and spent many years working as a bookkeeper for AMF Alcort as well as working for Bradlees department store and the State of CT, Support Enforcement Department. Gloria enjoyed taking trips to the casino and was always happiest while being surrounded by the love of her family. Gloria will always be known for her deep devotion to her family and friends, she was exceptional in almost every way but excelled the most at being a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her. Our family thanks you Mom, for every prayer you uttered for us, for the many sacrifices you made for us, for thousands of hugs you shared with us and the unending love you instilled in all of us.
Left to honor Gloria’s legacy and cherish her memory are her children; Donato “Dan” Iavasile and his wife, Karen of Torrington, Valerie Michalczyk and her husband, Dave of Waterbury, Christa Greguoli and her husband, Al of Wolcott and Karen Fraser of Oakville with whom she made her home. Gloria was blessed with 7 grandchildren, AJ, Stephanie, Nicholas, Joseph, Anthony, Mallory, and Samantha, as well as 9 great-grandchildren. She also leaves her sister-in-law, Katherine Galante and was predeceased by her brothers; Michael, Pasquale, and Philip Galante, sister, Dolores Ostroski and son-in-law Michael Fraser.
Funeral services for Mrs. Iavasile will be held on Thursday, February 8th, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Mary Magdalen Church Buckingham St Oakville. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit Gloria’s family on Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St., Waterbury.
