AT THE CASEY-O'DONNELL FUNERAL HOME
Waterbury - Mrs. Gloria W. Keaveney age 82, of Waterbury, died peacefully Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at Saint Mary's Hospital after an extended illness. She was the widow William Keaveney.
Mrs. Keaveney was born December 2nd 1926 in Norfolk Virginia, the daughter of the late John and Ruth (Blanchard) Goodrich and was educated in Norfolk schools. Gloria was an active member of several political organizations and was privileged to serve the City of Waterbury as elected Town Clerk from January 1, 1970 ~ December 31, 1975 and as Democratic Deputy Registrar of Voters, from January 5, 1977 ~ February 20, 1993. She also was a member of the Democratic Women's Booster Club, the Quota Club, and the Waterbury Democratic Town Committee. She was a member of the East End Community Club and enjoyed traveling with her family. She served as a Eucharistic minister at Christ Episcopal Church of Waterbury where she was an active member.
Gloria is survived by her two sons, John Keaveney and his wife Carol of Waterbury and William Keaveney of Chicopee, MA her two daughters, Carol Mosman and her husband Donald of Plymouth, NH, and Faith Keaveney of Waterbury, two sisters Maryann Horton, and Betty Curling both of Chesapeake VA, as well as five grandchildren, John, Jeffrey, Jason, Kelsi, and Craig Keaveney, seven great grandchildren Ryan, Braydon, Jack, Sam, Grace, Alex, and Mallory, Keaveney as well as many nieces, nephews and her dearest and closest friend Grace F. Green. She is pre-deceased by her two brothers William T. Goodrich, and Eugene G. Goodrich. The family would like to thank the staff of Xavier 3 at Saint Mary's Hospital and the staff of Meridian Manor Health Care Center for their compassion and tender care given to Gloria.
Services for Mrs. Keaveney will be held on Monday, August 3rd at 9:30 a.m. from the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home, 1581 East Main St Waterbury to Christ Episcopal Church, 2030 East Main St Waterbury, for services at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Old St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterbury. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00p.m. Memorial donations in memory of Mrs. Keaveney can be made to the Christ Episcopal Church, Memorial Fund, 2030 East Main St Waterbury, Ct 06705 or Meridian Manor Recreation Department 1132 Meriden Rd Waterbury, CT 06705.
