AT THE O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME ?" Mrs. Grace P. (Goggin) Straw, age 76, of Eastern Ave. Waterbury died Thursday at Meriden Manor after a brief illness. She was the widow of Robert E. Straw Sr.

Grace was born in Waterbury on May 17, 1932, the daughter of the late Patrick and Gertrude (Cuddy) Goggin. She was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier Grammar School and Waterbury Catholic High School. She was employed for many years at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury in the Emergency Department as a Unit Clerk. She was an avid NY Yankee fan who loved animals, especially dogs and also loved to read. She was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Church in Oakville.

Grace is survived by her son, Robert E. Straw Jr of Waterbury and a daughter, Margaret Mary Straw of Killingworth CT. She also leaves a sister, Joan Goggin Nelligan of Winsted and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother William Goggin.

Funeral services for Mrs. Straw will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2008, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Mary Magdalen Church at 10:00am. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Mt Olivet Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main St. Oakville has been entrusted to assist the family with arrangements. Memorial donations in Mrs. Straw's memory may be made to St. Mary Magdalen School Building Fund 165 Buckingham St. Oakville CT 06779 or to St. Francis Xavier School Development Fund, 615 Baldwin St. Waterbury CT 06706.
