WATERBURY - Mrs. Grace Vanzola (Riddick) Taylor, age 84, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the loving comfort of many family members and friends on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Waterbury Hospital. For 64 wonderful years, she was the beloved wife of Thomas P. Taylor, Sr., having been married on June 28, 1952.

Grace was born July 8, 1931 in Waterbury, the youngest child of the late Paul and Nettie (Matthews) Riddick. She attended Leavenworth High School and worked in the "Gold Room" at Uniroyal Footwear Division in Naugatuck until her retirement in 1976. Grace was a member of the United Rubber Workers, Local 45. Grace's hobbies over the years included, canning, gardening with her grandchildren and making her own wine under the name of Purple Foot Cellars. Grace was always ready to lend a hand and give helpful advice.

Besides her husband, Grace is survived by a daughter, Tamera D. Taylor of Lithonia GA, a daughter, Crystal Lynette Taylor of Waterbury, a son, Thomas Payne Taylor, Jr. (wife Tanya) of El Paso TX and a son, Kevin S. Taylor of Waterbury.

She also leaves 16 grandchildren; Kyla R. Burke (fiancé Terrance) Jamel Burke, Anitra J. Atkinson, Jermaine B. Atkinson (wife Jennifer), Kylee L. Atkinson-Heyward (husband Andre) Thomas P. Taylor III, William W. Taylor, Troy A. Taylor, Jason T. Taylor (wife Dana) Kevin S. Taylor II, Ryan S. Taylor (fiance, Erin) Brandon T. Taylor, Drayden T. Taylor, Jaszmin T. Taylor, Deszren S. Taylor, affectionately known as Synnamin and Eris Hudson-Gonzalez. Grace also leaves 13 great grands: Wallace E. Suggs, Jessica Charvis, Brianna Taylor, Brayden Taylor, BrynnLee Taylor, Carter Taylor, Trayce Richmond, Latrell Taylor, Melissa (May) Taylor, Kyran Atkinson, Amyra Gracelyn Atkinson, Elyse Atkinson and another to arrive next month. Grace is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews as well as Jan, Clarence, Kim Danielle, Ramone and Ashley to cherish her memory.

Grace was predeceased by all of her siblings; brother, Linwood Riddick, sisters, Ola Mae Mitchell, Essie (Lessie) Trotman, Evelyn (Bessie) Beamon and Susie McFarland.

Funeral services for Mrs. Taylor will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury, CT 06705. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Grace's family on Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the service begins at 11:00.
