Gregory "Pops" DiVito

December 22, 1947 — October 2, 2015

OAKVILLE - Gregory P. "Pops" DiVito age 67 of Oakville, passed away Friday, October 2nd 2015 at Autumn Lakes Health Care Center of Waterbury after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Peggy (Shanahan) DiVito.

Gregory was born December 22nd 1947 in Caribou, ME, the son of the late Anthony and Priscilla (Wakem) DiVito. He was a graduate of Croft High School and spent many years working as a transportation supervisor for a number of carriers. Greg was an avid sports enthusiast and he and his family owned several former Waterbury based Minor League Baseball Teams from 1978 through 1988. He also owned and operated DiVito's Texaco for many years with his siblings. Along with golfing, which Greg introduced his grandson Marc too, he enjoyed participating in fantasy sports with friends and family and was a Corvette enthusiast. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family especially his children and grandchildren. Greg had the gift of making so many feel loved and special. He'd never let you leave without saying, "Who Loves ya!?"

Besides his wife, Peggy of 44 years, Gregory is survived by his children, Gregory P. DiVito Jr. of Watertown, Marc D. DiVito and his wife, Dawn of Terryville, Daniel S. DiVito and his fiancé, Catarina Gugliotti of Oakville, his daughter, Kathryn K. DiVito of Oakville, his brothers, Michael DiVito of Caribou, ME, Charlie DiVito of Waterbury, Anthony DiVito of Terryville and his sister, Toniann Chacho of Caribou ME, as well as his grandchildren; Marc D. Jr, Monica, Brianna and Kayla in addition to several nieces and nephews.

His family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr Sabbath, Karen, Holly and the rest of the Leever Center Staff who took such great care of him.

Funeral services for Mr. DiVito will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Francis Xavier Church 625 Baldwin St. Waterbury, CT. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Relatives and friends may visit with Gregory's family on Monday evening from 5:00 till 7:00 p.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd., Waterbury, CT.
