Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, and Great-Great-Grandfather
WATERBURY- It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Guillermo Sanchez,age 91, of Waterbury share the news of his unexpected passing on Friday, December 6th, 2024 at Saint Mary’s Hospital. He was the husband of the late Juana Sanchez for 69 years.
Guillermo was born in Puerto Rico on March 15th, 1933, the son of the late Marcolino Sanchez and Encarnacion Medina. He was raised in Puerto Rico and moved to Passiac, NJ, eventually moving to Waterbury, Connecticut in 1997. Guillermo worked at Givaudan Corporation doing various jobs but mostly being their courier/deliveryman. Beyond his professional life, Guillermo was a man of many passions. He enjoyed playing dominoes, hitting the pool table, and bowling with friends. With a green thumb and a generous heart, Guillermo nurtured a garden that flourished with life, sharing its bounty of vegetables and plants with family and neighbors alike. Also, known for the love of his son’s three dogs,Pepi, Otis, and Cooper, Guillermo cherished the quiet moments spent with them resting faithfully by his side. Guillermo shared unconditional love with everyone and made this world a better place. His legacy will live on with his entire family and in the hearts of those he touched and most especially his children,grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. In this time of mourning, we remember Guillermo for the love he shared and the memories he created. Rest in peace, dear Guillermo.Your spirit will always be with us.
Left to cherish and honor Guillermo’s memory are his children; William Sanchez and his husband,Kevin Hartman of Waterbury, Emma LaMonica of Waterbury and Minerva Trusty and her husband Oliver “Tony” Trusty of North Carolina, his siblings; Oscar Sanchez of Connecticut, Betty Colon and her husband Angel of New Jersey, and Daisy Giraldo and her husband Arturo of Wisconsin, his grandchildren; Minerva Ancrum and her husband Brian Ancrum, Joseph LaMonica Jr. and his wife, Yung LaMonica, Tasha Lomax and Juanita Cheng, his great-grandchildren; TJ, Jonathan, Emmalie, Jayden, Noah and Kellan, his great-great-grandchildren; Jayce and Cameron, along with many nieces,nephews, cousins and other extended family members. Besides his loving wife, Juana and his parents, he was also predeceased by his siblings; Fano Sanchez, Andres Sanchez, Ramon Sanchez and Ines Sanchez.
Calling hours for Mr. Sanchez will be held on Friday, December 13th, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. until the service commences at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services for Mr. Sanchez will be held on Friday, December 13th, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care 1987 East Main St Waterbury CT. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery.
