THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF HEDWIG CHRISTIAN
WATERBURY - Hedwig F. Christian age 101, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 3rd, 2020 at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of Saint Mary's Hospital after a brief illness. She was the widow of W. Robert Christian.
Hedwig was born August 3rd 1918 in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late Joseph and Bertha (Rutkowski) Roman. She was raised in Naugatuck and was a graduate of Naugatuck High School. She spent many years working at various area manufacturing facilities such as Waterbury Tool, Airpax where she was a secretary and Highlands Healthcare where she was a receptionist. Hedwig enjoyed traveling and was always happiest while spending time with her family especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her loving family and all who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish her memory and honor Hedwig's love and legacy, are her son Peter Christian and his wife, Marie of Waterbury and her daughter in law, Marlene Christian with whom she made her home. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren and six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren . She was predeceased by her son, Robert Christian and sister, Genevieve Roman.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Christian will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Mary Mother of the Church Parish, Saint Leo the Great Church to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Old Calvary Cemetery Waterbury. There are no calling hours. Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St has been honored to assist the Christian family. In Lieu of flowers donations in memory of Hedwig can be made to the Harold Leever Cancer Center 1075 Chase Parkway Waterbury, CT 06708.
