WATERBURY - Ms. Helen M. Murphy, age 92, of Scott Rd. in Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at the Vitas Innovative Hospice Care Unit of St. Mary's Hospital.
Helen was born on September 15, 1921 in Hartford, the daughter of the late Michael and Julia (Murphy) Murphy. She was a graduate of Waterbury Catholic High School and Post College and worked for many years as a Secretary at the former American Brass/ARCO. A lifelong Waterbury resident, she was a longtime parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church.
Helen is survived by her only sister, Mae Murphy of Waterbury. Helen's family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff at the Cheshire House for the care and support they provided to Helen during her illness.
Funeral services for Ms Murphy will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 9:00am from the EASTSIDE MEMORIAL "A Casey Family Funeral Home" 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd. Waterbury to Saint Francis Xavier Church 625 Baldwin St Waterbury to celebrate the liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:30am. Committal services will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Friends and relatives may visit with the Murphy family at the funeral home on Friday from 4 till 6 pm.
