Devoted wife and mother

WATERBURY – Helen (Romanuk) Shambreskis, age 97 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by the love and comfort of her family on Friday, June 16, 2023. She was the loving wife of the late Robert Shambreskis.

Helen was born June 12, 1926, in Waterbury, CT, and she was a graduate of Mary Abbott Grammer School and Wilby High School and spent many years working at the Leo Curley Insurance Agency, Waterbury Hospital, and Webster Bank, where she received several awards. Helen volunteered at different organizations throughout the years and was a parishioner of Saints Peter and Paul Church for many years. Her passion was caring for her three sons, attending all their sporting events, and being happily married to her husband, Bob, for 69 years. Helen and Bob enjoyed many years of traveling the US and Europe together and enjoyed spending time with their friends and family.

Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her sons; Robert Shambreskis and his wife, Denise of Watertown, Paul Shambreskis of San Jose, CA, and Peter Shambreskis and his wife, Corrine of Fountain Hills, AZ. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In accordance with her wishes, funeral services will be held privately, and at the convenience of her family. There are no calling hours.
