“Beloved wife, mother and Omi”
WATERBURY – It is with broken hearts and profound sadness that the family of Helga (Morro) Barrere, age 84, of Waterbury, share the news of her peaceful passing of their beloved wife and mother on Friday, December 27, 2024, in the comfort of her home surrounded by the love of her family. She was the devoted wife of Paul R. Barrere her husband for 63 wonderful years.
Helga was born on November 25, 1940, in Bremerhaven, Germany to the late Artur and Herta (Tietje) Moro. She attended local schools, then fulfilled a 3-year apprenticeship for retail sales certification by working in photo sales. Her passion for photography led to her work in a photo-lab and photo-retouching. She married Paul in Germany, and then accompanied him to his next duty station in Puerto Rico for a year. After that tour, they settled in Waterbury, where Helga’s cooking and baking aromas filled the air, and her flower gardens graced the yard at the same home of 60 years. She was a proud mother to her three daughters, while she raised her children, she learned English and earned her citizenship. Helga was an animal lover, where she rescued many kittens and was a life-long supporter of the CT Human Society. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening and was the ultimate homemaker. May her memory be an everlasting legacy and may she rest in peace.
Left to cherish her memory, besides her husband Paul, are her daughters, Jennifer Clark and her husband John, Heidi Petruzzello and her husband John, and Corinna Giroux. She and Paul were blessed with several grandchildren; Jessica Orsatti, Justin Clark, Kyle Petruzzello, and Ashley Townsend and great grandchildren; Gabriella Orsatti, Izabella Orsatti, Madison Townsend, Mac Arthur Townsend and Teo Clark, along with nephews Tomas, and Sven Moro and their families of Germany. She was predeceased by her brothers; Dieter and Rolf Moro of Germany.
Funeral services for Mrs. Barrere will be held on Thursday, January 02, 2025 at 12 noon at Casey-O’Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main Street, Oakville, CT 06779. Burial will be held at the convenience of her family. Relatives and friends may visit with the Barrere family on Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 12:00 noon. To honor Helga’s memory and in lieu of flowers, donations to the CT Humane Society at https://cthumane.org/ways-to-give/ would be greatly appreciated by her family.
