WATERBURY - Herenia Soto age 86, of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly at home surrounded by the love and comfort of her family, after a brief illness. She was the widow of Juan Pedro "Nica" Soto who passed away in January of this year.
Herenia was born March 8th 1934 in Utuado, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Carmello and Maria (Lopez) Gonzalez. She moved to the Waterbury area in 1962 where she raised her family as a loving and care homemaker. She enjoyed spending time in her garden planting flowers, and could always be found in the kitchen, cooking for her family. What brought the greatest joy to Herenia was spending time with her family especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who she enjoyed babysitting for over the years. She will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Left to cherish her memories and honor Herenia's love and legacy are her children; Edwin Soto and his wife, Elba of Waterbury, Abidalina Rodriguez and her significant other, Johnny Rivera of Waterbury and Hiragida Santiago and her significant other, Gerardo Serrano of Bridgeport. In addition, she also leaves her 2 brothers 5 sisters, her 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren as well as many other extended family members and friends. See was predeceased by her son, Wilfredo Soto and her granddaughter, Christina Castro.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Soto will be private and held at the convenience of her family. Burial will be held in All Saints Cemetery, Waterbury.
