Hervey Chevrette

October 11, 1920 — December 8, 2015

WATERBURY - Hervey R. Chevrette, age 95 of Waterbury passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Cheshire Health & Rehabilitation surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. He was the widower of Germaine (Dansereau) Chevrette. .

Mr. Chevrette was born on October 11, 1920 in Waterbury, the son of the late Alexis and Eugenie (Roulier) Chevrette. He was educated in local schools and earned his Associates Degree from Post University. Hervey proudly served his country in the US Navy aboard the USS Randolph, during World War II. He was an insurance adjuster for Scovill Mfg for 43 years before his retirement. Hervey had a profound and deep devotion to God and family. He was a lifelong parishioner of the Shrine of St. Anne's for Mothers where he received all of his sacraments. There he was a Eucharistic Minister, President of the Parish Council, a Member of the Holy Name Society and a recipient of the prestigious St. Joseph's Medal. One of his most treasured accomplishments was playing the Pope in the annual Boars Head Festival each year. Hervey was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Sheriden Council # 24 and was honored to serve as the City of Waterbury, French Mayor of the Day in 2002. Hervey loved to travel, was an avid reader, enjoyed card stamping, calligraphy and Chinese brush painting.


Hervey is survived by his five children, his daughters; Sister Mary Michael CLHC of Vale NC, Elaine Lawlor and her husband, Bernard O. of Waterbury, Louise Davis of Watertown and Doris Yimoyines and her husband, John of Tampa FL and his son, Armand Chevrette and his wife, Priscilla of Milford. He also leaves 9 adoring grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services for Mr. Chevrette will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. from Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St Waterbury @ Southmayd Rd. Waterbury to the Shrine of St. Anne's for Mothers, 515 South Main St. Waterbury CT to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery's Queen of Peace Mausoleum. Family and friends may visit with the Chevrette Family on Saturday morning from 9:00 till 10:30 a.m. To honor Hervey's memory, memorial donations may be made to St. Anne's Church Restoration Fund 515 South Main St Waterbury CT 06706 or to Maryvale Sisters, 2522 June Bug Rd.
