MICCO FL - Mr. Howard A. Brightman, age 89 formerly of Longmeadow Dr. Waterbury, died peacefully on Friday, July 5, 2013 at his daughter BettyAnne's home in Micco FL. He was the husband of the late Helen Brightman.
Howard was born in Waterbury on April 2, 1924, the son of the late Alexander and Mary (Trotzwski) Brightman. He was educated in local schools and proudly served his country with the US Navy during World War II as a corpsman. He then transferred to the U.S. Marine Corp and saw action with the 5th Marine Division in Iwo Jima. A proud and distinguished veteran he was a member of the Oakville VFW Post 7330, Marine Corp Detachment #918 as well as the American Legion 366 in Barefoot Bay FL. Howard also volunteered at St. Luke's Thrift Store and Marine Corp. "Toys for Tots" He was employed at Lewis Engineering and retired from Anchor Fasteners as a Quality Control Inspector. Howard was a longtime parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church.
Howard is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth (Betty Ann) of Micco FL, his son, Steven and his wife Jayne of Waterbury and his daughter-in-law Paula Brightman of Thomaston. He also leaves two grandchildren Michael and his wife Kendra of Waterbury and Amy Brightman of Thomaston and one great granddaughter Raegan of Waterbury. He was predeceased by his son Richard as well as five brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services for Mr. Brightman will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 9:30 am at the Eastside Memorial, A CASEY FAMILY FUNERAL HOME AND TRIBUTE CENTER, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd. Waterbury. Rites of committal will follow in Mt Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Relatives and friends may visit with Howard's family at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 8:30 until the service at 9:30am.
