WATERBURY – It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Howard E. Palmer at the age 81 on Monday, July 24, 2023, at Waterbury Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Cheryl A Wood-Palmer.
Howard was born on July 21, 1942, in Waterbury the son of the late Howard E. Palmer Sr and Florence (Baton) Palmer. He had just celebrated his 81st birthday. He was educated in local schools and proudly served his country with the U.S. Army where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Marksman Expert Medal, Vietnam Service Medal for meritorious service. Following his tour of duty Howard worked for many years as a Screw Machine Operator in various manufacturing businesses. He was an avid NASCAR and classic car fan, enjoyed golfing and had a wide circle of friends from around the country using Xbox. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and he will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory, besides his wife, Cheryl, of 29 years, are his children; son, Howard E. Palmer III and his wife Karen of Watertown, his daughters; Robyn Palmer and Traci Wells his stepson, Shawn Wood and his wife Traci of Maine, his brothers; Edward and his wife Margie Palmer of Watertown and Louis and his wife Mary Palmer of FL. He also leaves several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services for Mr Palmer will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023, 10:30a.m at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 1987 East Main St., Waterbury. Burial with full military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Howards family on Friday morning from 9:30 until the service at 10:30 a.m. Loving kindness is always welcome, and it only takes a moment to offer a message of condolence, words of comfort, or share a memory with the family and friends of someone important to you.
