WATERBURY - It is with profound sorrow that the family of Mrs. Irene R. Picard, beloved wife to Donald A. Picard, share that she entered into the gates of Heaven on Monday, March 17, 2025 at Crossroads Senior Living in Montgomery, Texas.
Irene was born May 10, 1940, in Waterbury, Ct. and was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Lourdes and St Anne’s Parishes. She attended Merriman grammar school and graduated from Wilby High School. She had a long career working as a secretary at State Paint and Bank of America in Waterbury until she retired. She enjoyed reading, cooking, entertaining family and friends. After her retirement at age 64, Irene lived in Florida with her husband and enjoyed traveling, cruising, book clubs and relaxing in the sun where she was a parishioner of SacredHeart Church in Punta Gorda, Fl.
Irene is survived by her sons; Donald A Picard Jr. and Michael D Picard, her brother; Carmon Sbordone, grandchildren Amanda Picard and Andrew Picard, and many nieces and nephews. Irene is preceded by her parents; Pellegrino Sbordone & Michelina (Sbordone) Minucci and her sister; Genevieve Mehment.
A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am on Saturday April 12,2025 at the Our Lady of Lourdes, South Main Street, Waterbury, Ct 06706. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org/donate) or a charity of the donor’s choice.
