Mrs. Irene Tingets Torok

NIANTIC - Irene (Tingets) Torok, 103 passed away quietly, with her son by her side, on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at the Bride Brook Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Niantic after a brief illness. She was the dedicated and loving wife of the late John T. Torok Sr. 

Irene was the 16th and last born child of Hungarian immigrants John & Julia (Molnar) Tingets who came to the U.S. thru Ellis Island, NY and settled in New Canaan, CT. She was an honors graduate of Norwalk High School and worked for many years as a professional housekeeper and was an avid flower gardener. She was a member of the Hungarian Reformed United Church of Christ in Norwalk.

In addition to her son, John T. Torok Jr. of Waterford, Irene is survived by her grandchildren; Sarah Torok of Bethel, CT and Ash Torok of Amherst, MA, her niece, Lorelei Johnson who was more like a daughter to Irene and many other nieces & nephews as well as great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces & nephews. She will be greatly missed by many. May her memory be a blessing to all.

Private services will be held at the family’s convenience. There are no calling hours.
