WATERBURY- Irma Eileen Leone, age 92 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love and comfort of her children at Waterbury hospital on February 2, 2022.
Irma was born in Waterbury, CT on November 7, 1929, the daughter of the late James and Nellie (Giusti) George. She was a graduate of Wilby High School, Class of 1947. After raising her three children, she went back to school and studied to become a Certified Nurses Aide and worked throughout the greater Waterbury area. She was passionate about every patient under her care and put her heart and soul into her work. Irma loved disco dancing, shopping in New York City, Atlantic City casinos as well as Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods. Irma's favorite flowers were gardenias and roses and she especially loved Dunkin' Donuts coffee and Brooklyn bakery donuts.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her three children; David Leone of California, Brian Leone, and Lisa Leone, both of Waterbury, her 4 grandchildren: Heather Leone, Mathew Leone, Anthony Stango III, and Giovani Leone. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother; Fred L Giusti, her sister, Connie Campus and her former husband, Francis "Red" Leone
The Leone family would like to thank the doctors and caregivers at Waterbury Hospital, especially the 4th floor telemetry team and the staff at Seasons Hospice for all the love and care they shared to Irma and her family during her illness
Funeral services for Mrs. Leone will be held on Saturday, May 14th 2022 at 8:30 a.m. at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception 74 W. Main St Waterbury CT. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. There are no calling hours.
