WATERBURY - Mr. Israel R. "El Indio" Matos, age 67, of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 6th 2014 at Saint Mary's Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the widower of Alejandrina Matos.
Israel was born May 10th 1946 in Anasco, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Evangelista and Agueda (Rios) Matos. He spent many years as a machine operator at Brucato Manufacturing in Waterbury until his retirement.
Among his survivors are his daughters; Sonia Feliciano of Waterbury, Aleyda Machado and her husband Luis also of Waterbury, a brother, two sisters and his grandchildren, Israel Benique and Elaine Nghiem as well as two great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Roy Feliciano.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 13th 2014 at 10:00am at New Pine Grove Cemetery 850 Meriden Rd Waterbury CT . There are no calling hours.
