Oo Devoted wife, mother and sister
WATERBURY – It is with profound sadness that the family of Jacklyn Ann (Shaw) Welsh age 69, share the news of her peaceful passing at New Britain General Hospital on Friday, January 24, 2025. She was the beloved widow of Alan Welsh Sr.
Jacklyn was born on August 10, 1955, in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late Robert and Antoinette (Grandpre) Shaw Sr. She attended St. Anne’s grammar school, graduated from Crosby High School and then went on to achieve her associate’s degree in liberal arts from Mattatuck Community College. Following her formal education she enjoyed being a homemaker, raising her son, and then working part time at various jobs. Jacklyn was an avid fan of General Hospital, loved to go to the beach in Rhode Island and camping in New Hampshire. The family enjoyed many great days at their cottage in Lake Winnemaug growing up. There was nothing more important to Jacklyn than her family and she will always be remembered fondly by all those who were blessed to know and love her.
Left to honor and cherish her memory are her son, Alan Welsh Jr., her sister, Dee Mayell (Arthur), sisters-in-law; Susan Shaw, Lorraine Shaw, and Cathy Welsh, and her Aunt Shirley Shaw. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Jacklyn was predeceased by her brothers; Robert F. Shaw Jr., Earl J. Shaw II, and her brother-in-law Timothy Welsh.
The family would like to extend their immense gratitude to the team of nurses and aides at The Summit at Plantsville for the compassionate care and love they shared with Jacklyn and her family. A special thank you to the recreation department at the Summit for always going above and beyond to make the residents feel special, even during COVID.
