Beloved Mother, and Grandmother
WATERBURY – Jacqueline Marticello aka “Chocolate Feather,” age 71, of Wolcott, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 22nd, 2023, after a brief illness. She was a cancer warrior who beat cancer 14 years ago. She was the widow of Joseph Marticello, whom she was married to for 46 years.
Jacqueline was born January 4th, 1952, in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late Howard and Jeannette (Hannis) Lush. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School and spent many years working at local manufacturing companies as a Quality Control Inspector. Jacqueline was proud of her Abenaki Native American Indian Heritage and was a self-proclaimed chocoholic, which explains her Native American name of Chocolate Feather. She loved to travel to Hershey Pennsylvania to visit Hershey Park. She also enjoyed playing BINGO, playing setback, shopping, knitting, and crafting. There was nothing more important to Jacqueline than her family, and she was always happiest while being able to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her children; Joseph Marticello Jr of Meriden, and Krista Oyola of Torrington. Jacqueline was also blessed with 4 grandchildren; Ashley, Briana, Caira, and Zachary as well as two great-grandchildren, Cayden and Leo, and was looking forward to the birth of her soon-to-be great-grandson, Sakari. She also leaves her siblings; Edward Lush and his wife, Pat of Agawam, MA, and Richard Lush of Waterbury. Also several nieces and nephews.
The Marticello family would like to thank and acknowledge Doctor Jega, the staff at Abbott Terrace Health Care and Athena Hospice, for the loving support and care they provided to Jacqueline and her family during her illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Marticello will be held on Thursday, June 29th, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Leo the Great Church, 14 Bentwood Ave, Waterbury. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
