Jacqueline Marie Stanevich

November 30, 1938 — May 16, 2021

THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF JACQUELINE STANEVICH.

Ann Arbor, MI- Jacqueline Marie (Aubé) Stanevich 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in Ann Arbor, MI on May 16, 2021. She was the widow of Francis "Cris" Stanevich.

Born in Rouen, France on November 30, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Aubé and Marie (Fromentin) Aubé. A self-described "force of nature", Jacqueline left behind a childhood in war-torn France to play a formative role in the lives of hundreds of people.

After growing up during the Nazi Occupation, Jacqueline and her best friend left Normandy, France for Paris at the age of 14, becoming a live-in governess for wealthy families, and forming such close ties with the children she helped raise that many remain friends. In her 20s, she decided to use her skills as a governess to travel around the world but only made it as far as the United States, where she was eventually set up on a blind date with a nice, older gentleman name Francis "Cris" Stanevich.

Jacqueline raised two children, who were constantly reminded that "I raised 10 kids before I raised you", and then went on to work in the bakery of the Taft School, where she became known as "the goodie lady" to hundreds of students, and "second mom" to many. After retirement, she focused on taking care of Cris, ensuring that he lived in great health and happiness to the age of 101. After Cris' passing, Jacqueline moved to Michigan to be cared for by her children and loved ones. She was thankfully able to spend the pandemic sequestered with her grandsons and beloved toy poodle, Jolie.

Left to cherish her memory are her two children; Son Laurent (Jill) Stanevich, daughter Regine Stanevich (James Shoemaker); Two grandsons Emmet and Jonah Stanevich. Her sister Josiane Pruvost. Along with several nieces, nephews, and a beloved extended family.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Lake Elise Cemetery, Long Meadow Rd., Ext. Middlebury, CT. Memories last only if you share them, so you are encouraged to leave a condolence, words of comfort or personal memory with the Stanevich family on Jacqueline's tribute page at www.oneillfuneralhome.com . The Casey family has been honored to serve the Stanevich family.
