A mother of seven…. gone too soon

WATERBURY - It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Jamayra Vicente age 45 Waterbury, CT, share the truly sorrowful news of her peaceful passing on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family a truly courageous battle with cancer.

Jamayra was born on August 4, 1979, in Puerto Rico the daughter of Luis Vicente and Isabel Labranch. She was educated in local Waterbury schools and graduated from Wilby High School. A lifelong Waterbury resident she committed her entire life to her family and as an adult a nurturing and devoted mother. Known to her loved ones as “Jomie” She was very sweet but could also be “spicy” at times.

Sadly, Jamayra leaves seven children: Edwin, Nathan, Jannelle, Jasmine, Leslie, Stefan and Sarah. She also leaves her siblings, Maria, Juliza, Teresa, Vanessa, Lydia, Erica, Wilda, Zoila, Kiara, Luis Jr., Luis A. and John Paul. Besides her parents, she also leaves a stepmom, Chipa, Stepdad, Moyo and many aunts, Uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, Cardona family, and many friends.

Funeral services for Jamayra will be held on Monday, April 21,2025 at 11:30 a.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care 1987 East Main St Waterbury CT 06705. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may pay their respects and visit with the Vicente family on Monday morning from 10:00 until 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
