Retired Naugatuck High School Science Teacher
WOLCOTT - James L. Bilancia, age 81, of Wolcott, formerly of Oakville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 9th 2019 at Waterbury Hospital surrounded by the love and comfort of his family after an extended illness. He was the beloved husband of Germaine "Geri" (Ouellette) Bilancia.
Jim was born in November 20th 1937 in Waterbury CT, the son of the late Leonard and Mildred (Emanuel) Bilancia. He grew up in the Oakville area and attended Sacred Heart High School and Providence College and received his teaching degree from UCONN. Jim spent over 40 years teaching psychics and chemistry at area high schools including Cheshire Academy and Naugatuck High School, where he also enjoyed coaching the swim team until his retirement in 1999. He was a former member of the Naugatuck Elks lodge and was a New England Patriots football fan and enjoyed playing golf and traveling abroad with his wife Geri. A dedicated husband, father and grandfather, Jim will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
Besides his wife, Geri of 41 years; Jim is survived by his children; Clifford Kellas of Miami, FL and Cheryl Zielke and her husband, Mark of Goshen as well as his granddaughters, Alexandra and Caroline Joy and other extended family members and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Bilancia will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 12:00 noon at The O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main St Oakville, Ct 06779. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery Watertown.
