Mr. James (Jimmie) Brown of Waterbury Connecticut peacefully entered into eternal rest with his loving wife of 66 years Florence (Blanks) Brown at his side on October 4, 2013 at Rosegarden Health Care Center in Waterbury after an extended illness.
He was born on January 10, 1928 to the late Willie and Lottie Brown in Columbia, SC.
James spent over 35 years working at Jenkins' Valves in Bridgeport, CT prior to his retirement and was an active member of the local United Steel Workers union #535. He was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Bridgeport, CT, and an active member of the senior male choir. Mr. Brown will be remembered for his warm personality and ability to make friends easily. He loved his family and the warmth and camaraderie of friends.
James Brown and Florence Brown, his beloved wife and soul-mate, were blessed with six children. He was predeceased by his daughter Dianne Brown and her son Anthony Brown, of Mount Vernon, New York. Left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory are his daughters, Delores Turman, of Naugatuck, CT, Rochelle, Joanne Brown of Waterbury, CT, Julie M. Brown, of Lithonia, Georgia, son, James Brown Jr., of Waterbury, CT, son-in-laws, Melvin Turman, Jay Clark and sixteen grandchildren; Lisa D., Michael J., Gary L. Turman, Melissa M. Surgeon, Erica R. Brown, Triston Harris, Daisette, Christina, Jenifer, Sabrina Brown, Dwayne and Tamisha Brown, Yolanda Brown, Vincent J. Taylor Jr., Chelsey Harris, La'Venus Brown, Tabias Nwaogbe and thirteen great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
Services for Mr. Brown will be held on Thursday October 10, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at EASTSIDE MEMORIAL, A "Casey Family Funeral Home & Tribute Center", 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd., Waterbury, CT. A Committal service will follow at St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck. Relatives and friends may visit with Mr. Brown's family on Thursday morning at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
