WATERBURY CT - James T. Cattanio, age 81 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 26 2015, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. He was the beloved husband of Lee (Cady) Cattanio.
Jim was born September 13, 1933 in Seaside Heights NJ, the son of the late Sebastian Cattanio and Virginia Perry. He was educated and grew up in Seaside Heights, working on the Boardwalk. He relocated to CT in the early seventies and worked as an electrician for many years at Stolfi Electric until his retirement. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and spending time outdoors as well as taking trips to Florida. He also enjoyed spending time with his faithful pet Terrier, Samantha and taking her on her daily walks and he enjoyed playing cards with his friend Tony and other friends during their daily meetings at the Hamilton Ave. Dunkin Donuts.
Besides his wife, Lee of 40 years, Jim is survived by his sons, James P. Cattanio and his wife, Janice of Waterbury, David B. Cattanio and his spouse, Frank Chelednik of FL, his daughter, Kim Powell and her husband, Leonard of FL. his sisters, Rose Carey and Ginger Keller both of NJ. He also leaves his two grandchildren and three great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother, Robert Cattanio.
A Memorial Gathering in memory of James will be held on Monday, August 31st 2015 at EASTSIDE MEMORIAL "A Casey Family Funeral Home and Tribute Center," 1987 East Main St., Waterbury from 5:00 ~ 7:00pm. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's memory can be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association PO Box 97075 Washington, DC 20077.
