SUN CITY CENTER FL - James T Darling Sr. age 87 formerly of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at the home he shared with his love, Patricia Parrington, after a brief battle with cancer.
James was born on June 7, 1936, in Waterbury the son of the late James and Ann (Phelan) Darling. He was educated in local schools and was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School. Jim was a machinist by trade and served as Foreman at both New England Machinery, Scovill and Century Brass. He enjoyed fishing, was an avid NASCAR and football fan and loved to travel all over the world with the love of his life, Patti. He was extremely proud of his Irish heritage but what was most important to Jim was his family. Jim was exceptional in almost every way but he excelled the most at being a devoted partner, father and grandfather. And he was enormously proud of all of his families’ accomplishments. He will be deeply missed but his warmth, kindness, and generosity will be forever remembered by all who were blessed to know and love him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory, besides his love, Patti, are his children; Patricia Pappiano of Sun City Center FL, Thomas J. Darling of NH, Kathleen A Darling-Escamilla of Wolcott and his daughter-in-law Laurie Escamilla. He also leaves his grandchildren; Jason, Ben, Thomas, Stephen, Mackenzie, Lindsey, and Mia. And 4 great-grandchildren. He also leaves his siblings; Sally Massicotte, William Darling, Jane Banno, Kathy Blair as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
Sadly, he was predeceased by his son, James T. Darling Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. Darling will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Basil the Great Parish, St Pius Church Woodtick Rd Wolcott at 11:00 a.m. Those planning on attending are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may visit the Darling family on Friday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd.
