THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF JAMES G. GILLAND
WATERBURY- James W. Gilland, age 75, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 28th 2019 at The Vitas Innovative Care Unit of Saint Mary's Hospital surrounded by the love and comfort of his family after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Roseline (Meo) Gilland.
James was born October 13th 1943 in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late James W. and Elaine (Lynch) Gilland. James was a lifelong Waterbury resident, graduated from Croft High School and then proudly served his country with the United States Navy. Upon being honorably discharged, James began his career as a truck driver working with Bailey's Express for over 30 years and was a long-time member of the Teamsters Local Union #671. James was extremely proud of his Irish heritage, was an avid Red Sox fan and was always happiest when spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
Left to remember, cherish and honor Jim's love and legacy are his wife of 32 years, Roseline, his children; Tracey Hunt and her husband, Tom of Watertown, Lori Shannon and her husband, Kevin of NH and Kim Cipriano and her husband, Bob of SC. He also leaves his step son, Michael Quattro of Waterbury and his stepdaughter, Doreen Naiss of Plainville. In addition, James is also survived by his brother, Jerry McHale of Waterbury, his sister, Marlene Riechard of Fl. and his adoring grandchildren; Tommy, Connor, Gillian, Nicole, Brittany, Kelsey, and step grandchildren; Michael, Chelsea, Angela, Marissa and Mark as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Steven James Gilland and his step son, Peter Quattro.
Funeral services for Mr. Gilland will be held privately at Pine Grove Cemetery at the convenience of his family. Relatives and friends may visit with James' family on Tuesday evening September 3rd from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd.
