James 'Jim' F Walsh

AT THE CASEY-O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME

WATERBURY CT. James Frederick Walsh, the beloved husband of Nanci Doyle Walsh and father of John, Christopher, Jessica, James (predeceased), William, (predeceased), and Jamie, passed into a peaceful rest after a fierce battle with cancer.

Jim was born in Warwick, Rhode Island, on January 7, 1927, the son of the late John C. Walsh and Ida Mae (King). Jim proudly served his country in the US Navy as a Fleet Marine Medic during both World War II and the Korean War. Jim was an alumnus of Rhode Island of School Design, B.F.A, and the University of Bridgeport, M.S. Ed. Professionally he was an educator for thirty seven years, spending the last twenty five of those years within the City of Waterbury Public School System. Jim taught drafting and art at Crosby High, and later was a Guidance Counselor at Kennedy High and West Side Middle School. Jim was an accomplished artist. Among his awards and recognitions, he won the 1956 National Drawing Competition with presentation at the Museum Of Modern Art and the 1959 Boston Fine Arts Festival. Jim enjoyed time with his family, painting, reading, and the American political arena. Touching many lives, he was a modest, kind man with great dignity and a quiet wit.
Besides his loving wife of 42 years and his four children, Jim leaves his daughter in law, Denise Redden Walsh, eight grandchildren- Molly, Skylar, Daisy, Abby, Hannah, Dan, Rory, and Isabella, his sister Shirley Hadfield of Warwick, Rhode Island, and in- laws Bill and June Doyle of Walpole, MA, as well as several nieces and nephews. Also, he leaves behind his constant companion and cherished dog Darby.

A memorial service for Mr. Walsh will be held on November 15, 2008, at 9:00 a.m. at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Church 74 West Main Street Waterbury, CT. Memorial donations in Jim's memory are encouraged to "The Shriners Hospitals for Children".
