James Raymond Kennedy age 91 of Buckingham Street died April 21, 2013 at Waterbury Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the widower of Beatrice "Polly" (Ross) Kennedy.
James was born June 3, 1921 in Waterbury, a son of the late Frank and Anna (Horan) Kennedy and was a resident of Oakville for over 45 years. After graduating from Wilby High School he continued his education over his lifetime.
James was a Plating Supervisor and Purchasing agent at Risdon Manufacturing. While at Risdon he helped develop and implement one of the earliest water treatment programs on the Naugatuck River. He concluded his career by working in Sales for MacDermid of Bristol.
He was an active member of the American Electroplaters Society where he served as Secretary Treasurer for thirty-one years. His work was recognized by the Association when they bestowed the title of Honorary President.
James was a devoted family man who took great pleasure in family outings, backyard barbeques and summers at his pool. He enjoyed vacationing, especially the family trips to the Grand Canyon and Alaska. James was a basketball fan, particularly of UCONN Women's Basketball.
James leaves two daughters Alice Frino and her husband Louis of Cheshire, Lee Kennedy and her partner Kathryn of Oakville, a sister Ann Feero of Waterbury and a son-in-law James Budris of Watertown. He also leaves several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his infant daughter Kim, daughter Lynn Budris, infant granddaughter Rachel Budris and three brothers Harold, Francis and John Kennedy.
Funeral Thursday April 25, 2013 at 10 a.m. from the O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main Street, Oakville, CT 06779 to St. Mary Magdalen Church to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11. Rites of Committal will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
