AT THE CASEY-O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME

Oakville - James "Jimmy" R. Sheehan, age 68, of Oakville, passed away unexpectedly at home on February 4th 2012. He was the loving husband of Elizabeth "Betty" (Kologe) Sheehan.

Mr. Sheehan was born May 29th 1943 in Waterbury CT, the son of the late James C. and Harriet (Johnston) Sheehan. He attended Waterbury Schools and was a graduate of Crosby High School, Class of 1961. Jimmy graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelors Degree in History in 1966 and then joined the US Air Force where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. During his service with the Air Force, Jimmy developed an interest in the study of Karate and later earned the rank of Black Belt. Following his tenure with the Air Force, he joined the Watertown Police Department in 1973 and retired in 2001 as a sergeant after 28 years of dedicated service. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family, was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Church in Oakville.

In addition to Betty his wife of 30 wonderful years, Jim is survived by his daughter, Mary Sheehan of Waterbury, his mother in-law, Mary Kologe of Prospect, his brother in-law Robert Kologe and his wife Donna of Thomaston, as well as his two nieces and his nephew.
Funeral Services for Mr. Sheehan will be on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at Saint Mary Magdalen Church 16 Buckingham St Oakville at 11:00am. Those planning on attending are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. The Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted to assist the family with the arrangements. In grateful appreciation for the care provided to Jim and his family and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Watertown VNA, 27 Princeton Rd Watertown, CT 06795.
