WATERBURY CT - Jana Mouanes, affectionately known to family and friends as "Hanni" age 78, of Barbara St. died peacefully Saturday July 20th, at St Mary's Hospital, after receiving her last rights while surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Georges Mouanes.
Hanni was born February 7th 1935, in the town of Chebanieh, Mount Lebanon, the daughter of the Michael and Takla (Mouanes) Kordahi. She lived most of her life in her beloved country of Lebanon before moving to the United States in the early 1990's to be with her family. Her greatest achievement was her family whom she always enjoyed being surrounded by especially her children and grandchildren. Her love was limitless. She was selfless, humble, and caring. She was a member of Our Lady of Lebanon Church and had fervent and strong religious beliefs which she inherited from her family which always espoused the importance of religion, church, God and family. She was also a member of the American Lebanese Club..
She is survived by her two sons; Bassam Mouanes and his family of Prospect, Charbel Mouanes and his family of Wolcott, her daughters; Narimane Mouanes of Waterbury and Fida (Mouanes) Skayem and her family of Waterbury. In addition her sisters; Wadad Khachkhachian of Lebanon and Nassima Helayel of Waterbury CT and her brother, Hanna Kordahi of Lebanon. She also leaves her grandchildren; Christopher Skayem, Jonathan and Gabriella Mouanes as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother Adib Kordahi and her sister Linode Raad.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mouanes will held on Friday, 26, 2013 at Our Lady of Lebanon Church Maronite Catholic Church, 8 East Mountain Rd. at 11:00am with the Service of the Holy Mysteries of Christian Burial. Those planning on attending are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Waterbury. A period of visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday July 25th from 5 to 8PM at Eastside Memorial "A CASEY FAMILY FUNERAL HOME AND TRIBUTE CENTER" 1987 East Main St Waterbury, CT.
