AT THE O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME - Janice E. (Palmer) Parenteau, age 72, of Wolcott, died Sunday at St. Mary's Hospital after an extended illness. She was the wife of Robert Parenteau Sr.
Mrs. Parenteau was born July 19, 1938 in Waterbury, a daughter of the late Wallace and Mildred (Lackey) Palmer. Janice was a graduate of Watertown High School and was a certified nursing aide (CNA) at The Greenery in Waterbury and most recently at Cook Willow of Plymouth. She had also delivered the Republican-American newspaper for several years. Janice was a longtime and active member of the Wolcott Volunteer Ambulance Corp where she dedicated countless hours in the service to others. She enjoyed gardening but most of all she loved her role as "grandmother" to her treasured grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Janice leaves three sons, Robert Jr. of Wolcott, Stephen of Waterbury, Gregory and his wife Donna of Wolcott, her 8 grandchildren; James, Colleen, Kelly-Lynn, Stephen, Robert, Gregory, Joshua and Patrick and one great grandson Ethan. She also leaves her brothers; Wallace Palmer of Watertown, Everett Palmer of Port St. Lucie FL, Wilfred Palmer of Watertown, James Palmer of Oakville and Larry Palmer of Waterbury, 3 sisters; Nancy Buonomo of Watertown, Eva Treppiccione of Long Island NY and Jane Jenkins of Bristol as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, Daniel.
Funeral services for Mrs. Parenteau will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 10:00am at the O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main St Oakville with the Rev. Mark Pellitere officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Watertown. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday from 4 - 7pm.
