PROSPECT - Ms. Janis S. Booth age 67 of Prospect, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 11, 2017, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family at Sheridan Woods Health Care Center in Bristol, after a brief illness.

Janis was born, James W. Booth January 1, 1950 in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late Walter and Joan (Brennan) Booth and was the former husband of Carole Codianni. She was raised in Oakville, where she attended local schools and proudly served with the US Air Force during the Vietnam War era where she was stationed at Edwards Air Force Base. She graduated from St. Mary's School of Nursing in 1978 and worked as a critical care nurse at St. Mary's for many years before building her own software developing company, working as a database developer. She authored and co-authored many books and lectured throughout the United States, Canada and Europe on computer programming and Visual Foxpro."
In 2010, at age of 60, Janis transitioned from male to female and became extremely active in the LGBT community. She was also active in the Hartford area True Colors and P. Flag of Hartford where she served as past president. In addition, she was a member of the Connecticut Outreach Society in West Hartford.

Among her survivors are her sons, Vincent Booth and his wife, Morgan of Thomaston, Edward Booth and his wife, Melissa of Wolcott, and Louis Booth of Prospect and her sister, Linda Gomes. In addition, she leaves several extended family members and close friends.

A Memorial Gathering for Janis will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury CT. from 2:00 to 4:00pm. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
