“Beloved Mother, Sister, and Aunt”
WATERBURY - Jannette Cardona, age 51, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at the Vitas Unit of Saint Mary’s Hospital, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family after a courageous three-year battle with breast cancer.
Jannette was born August 22, 1972, in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late Virgilio and Amina (Velazquez) Cardona. She was a graduate of Wilby High School and spent several years working as branch manager for CitiFinancial in Rocky Hill before becoming a paralegal with The Dodd Law Firm. There were two things in Jannette's life that meant the most to her. One was spending time riding her motorcycle and forgetting about the daily stresses of life. The other, and most important, was her family. Being one of 12 siblings, Jannette cherished having such a large and loving family to surround herself with.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory, besides her beloved daughter, Jatorra Jackson of Waterbury, are her devoted boyfriend of many years, Quintin Cruz, her brothers; Virgilio, William, Daniel, Emilio, Peter (Lilian), Edward (Robyn), Luis, and Angel Cardona all of Waterbury, her sisters; Wilda and Matilda Cardona of Waterbury and Maribel Goodman (Claude) also of Waterbury. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews, as well as other extended family members and many friends.
Funeral services for Ms. Cardona will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 9:15 a.m. from Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd, Waterbury, to Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main St. Waterbury, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with the Cardona family on Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
