LAWRENCEVILLE, GA – Jeanette (Wyrick) Thomas, age 85 of Georgia formerly of Waterbury peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 15th 2022 surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. She was the widow of William Thomas Jr.
Jeanette was born July 7th 1936 in Waterbury, CT the eldest daughter of Milton and Catherine Elizabeth (Heyward) Wyrick. She attended Walsh grammar school and graduated from Crosby High School class of 1954. Jeanette began working at the age of 15. She worked at Century Brass and Scoville manufacturing for a number of years before retiring from Waltec American Forging in 1999. After retirement, Jeanette worked as a CNA for the Elton Residential Center. Jeanette was a lifelong member of Grace Baptist Church where she served as an usher, sang in the adult choir, and was active in the Senior Hub Center, the caring and sharing ministry, and the PTA. Jeanette enjoyed watching family feud and also enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners making her famous mac & cheese and shrimp and grits. She loved her husband, children, and grandchildren and enjoyed family gatherings during the holidays.
Left to cherish her memory and honor her legacy, are her children Gayle and her husband Ricky of Lawrence, GA where she made her home for the last 2 years. Eugene Coleman, Valerie Coleman, and Tricia Thomas all of Waterbury. Her sisters Thelma W. Metz-Griffin, Lois W. Locke; and Carol W. Diggs of Waterbury. her 9 grandchildren, Monique (Charles) Smith, Asia Moss, Richard (Tyisha) Washington, Lamarr Coleman, Julian Coleman, Justin Coleman, Jared Coleman, DeZaun Thomas, Chaz Coleman and special granddaughter Jaime Young her 15 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition, she also leaves her sisters in law Gretel (Alphonso) James of Temple Hill, MD Maureen Thomas of Hartsville, SC Brother in Law George Holmes of Naugatuck, CT She was predeceased by her husband William, her parents, grandson Eugene “Monty” Coleman III, and her sisters Evelyn Wyrick, Kerri W. Holmes, and Alice W. Stetson, as well as her nephews Derek Metz, Brandon Smith, William Stenson Jr., and Stacy Metz
Funeral Services for Mrs. Thomas will be held on Friday, June 24th, 2022 at 11:00am at Grace Baptist Church 65 Kingsbury St Waterbury with Pastor Kristopher Reese officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00am.
