THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF JOANN DEELEY
BAREFOOT BAY FL - Jo-Ann Mary (Murphy) Deeley age 77 of Barefoot Bay FL formerly of Waterbury passed away unexpectedly on September 1, 2020 with her beloved husband and son by her side.
Jo-Ann was born on October 16, 1942 in Waterbury the daughter of the late Joseph and Anne (Bacon) Murphy. She was raised in the Bunker Hill neighborhood and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1960. Jo-Ann married the love of her life, Thomas (Dave) Deeley in November of 1965. The two were about to celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary. Jo-Ann retired from St. Marys Hospital in Waterbury in 1999 after 20 years of service in the dietary, purchasing and communications departments. She and Dave soon relocated to Barefoot Bay FL to begin many years of snow-birding fun shuffling between Florida and Plainville CT cottage. In retirement she enjoyed golf, bocce and bingo, in addition to being active in numerous social clubs and activity groups. Jo-Ann was a lifelong sports fan and enthusiast and rooted passionately for the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and was an ardent supporter of the UConn womens basketball team. She also adored and enjoyed the companionship of many family dogs over the years, most recently Kona a Labradoodle rescue.
In addition to her husband of 54 years she is survived by her son, David of Jacksonville FL, her brother, Hugh B. Murphy and sister-in-law, Terri; brothers-in-law, Bart (Roberta) Deeley, Robert (Joan) Deeley and several nicees and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Laura who died shortly after birth in 1968.
Funeral services for Jo-ann Mary (Murphy) Deeley, age 77 of Barefoot Bay FL formerly of Waterbury, who passed away on September 1, 2020, will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1987 East Main St @Southmayd Rd Waterbury. Burial will follow in New St. Joseph's Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the Deeley family on Thursday morning from 9:00 a.m. till the service at 10:30 a.m. Jo-Ann was the devoted wife of 55 years to Thomas "Dave" Deeley and loving mother of David Deeley of Jacksonville FL.
