Devoted to her family
WATERBURY– Joan (Pettit) Lokis, age 71 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 10, 2023, at St Marys Hospital, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. She was the devoted wife of John Lokis.
Mrs. Lokis was born on January 28, 1952, in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Petrowski) Pettit. She was educated in local schools and worked for many years at Chase Collegiate School in the business office. She was an avid UConn women’s basketball fan but more than anything else she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She would do whatever was necessary in order to spend time with her children and grandchildren and she especially loved family dinners together. She instilled in her children a strong work ethic and the importance of family. She was a foundation of joy and growth. Our family thanks you Mom, for every prayer you uttered for us, for the many sacrifices you made for us, for thousands of hugs you shared with us and the unending love you instilled in all of us.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory, besides her husband, John, of 46 years, are her children; son: Christopher Lokis of Waterloo IL, daughters; Carolyn Lokis and Mary Nazario and her husband Jonathan all of Waterbury. John and Joan were blessed with 6 grandchildren; Abby Santiago, Jazmin Guzman, Jeanelisse Nazario, Marissa Nazario, Cameron Nazario and Mason Lopez. She also leaves her siblings; brothers;, James Pettit, Charles Pettit both of Waterbury and Joseph Zukowski of FL and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Richard Zukowski and her sister, Judy Pettit.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Lokis will be held on Tuesday November 14, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St., Waterbury, CT 06705. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
