OAKVILLE – Joan (Lingis) Sakl, 89, of Oakville, passed away in the comfort of her home on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Stanley Edward Sakl, to whom she had been married to for 59 years.
Joan was born in Waterbury on April 12, 1933, the daughter of the late Joseph and Antonina (Kairaitis) Lingis. She graduated from St. Joseph grammar school and Wilby High School. She married Stanley on July 1, 1957. Joan than went onto work as a secretary for both Waterbury Savings Bank and Kaynor Technical School. She was very proud of her Lithuanian heritage. Joan enjoyed trips to the casino, but what she loved the most was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren, and animals.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memories are her son, Stanley M. Sakl, daughter, Susan Sakl Bovat Breen, her grandchildren; Matthew Bovat, and Sara Bovat, and sister- in- law Verna Lingis. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by her six siblings; Clifford Lingis, Joseph Lingis, Helen Lingis, Patricia Chepul, Frances Jackson, and Pauline Liedlick.
Relatives and friends may visit with the Sakl family on Saturday June 4, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the O’Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main Street Oakville, CT 06779. Funeral Services for Mrs. Sakl will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Watertown.
