Devoted, wife, mother and grandmother
WOLCOTT – Joanne Hope (Ross) Brooks, age 70 of Wolcott passed away unexpectedly on Saturday May 6, 2023 at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was the devoted wife of James Brooks for 53 wonderful years.
Mrs. Brooks was born on July 19, 1952 in Torrington CT the daughter of the late John and America (Dassan) Ross. She was educated in local schools and worked for many years as a Paraprofessional for the Wolcott Board of Education, primarily at Frisbie School. Joanne was devoted to her husband and family but also enjoyed her Tuesday night bowling league, cards with her sisters, monthly breakfasts with her teacher friends and the occasional trip to the casino. She was an avid Boston RedSox and Dallas Cowboys fan. Joanne’s life was a blessing, her memory a treasure. She was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory, besides her husband, are her daughters: Tracy Brooks and Terri Brooks both of Wolcott and her grandson, Domenic Maldonado also of Wolcott. She also leaves her siblings; Edward Ross of Waterbury, Judith Searles and her husband Larry of Waterbury, Jerri DiNicola of Naugatuck and Rosemary Farina and her husband James of Waterbury. She also leaves several nieces and nephews and her trusted companion and watchdog, Chocolate. She was predeceased by her sister, Beverly Mollica
Funeral services for Mrs. Brooks will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral and Cremation Care 1987 East Main St Waterbury 06705. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Joanne’s family on Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
