WATERBURY - Mr. Joe William Bennett, age 59 passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Saint Mary's Hospital after a brief illness.
Joe was the son of the late William Grant Bennett and Cortez (Elliott )Bennett. He became a member of Lebanon Grove Baptist Church in North Carolina at an early age. He later joined Community Tabernacle Outreach Center in Waterbury Connecticut. Joe loved the Lord.
Joe was educated in the North Carolina school system and earned his high school diploma from Gates County High School in 1980. After graduation, Joe started working for Smithfield meat packing company. He later moved to Waterbury Connecticut to be closer to his father. He worked at Anchor Fasteners while studying to become a patient care assistant. With his certification, Joe began working privately as a PCA for seniors in their homes and then increased his experience by working for the Lutheran Home, Regal Care of Waterbury & the Cheshire House Rehab Center. Joe was a hard worker and a devoted father. He was an avid golfer and grandma taught him how to cook. Joe was known for his macaroni and cheese and would often quote from his grandmother, Rebecca F. Bennett about life. Joe loved his family and spending time with them.
He leaves to cherish his memories and legacy, two sons; Jamille Bennett of Greenville North Carolina, and Tyler Bennett of Waterbury, a daughter, Quiana Gripper of New Haven. He was, predeceased by his daughter, Crystal D Bennett. He also leaves seven sisters; Dora Bennett of Waterbury; Angela Bennett, Donna Bennett, Tonya Bennett, Tammy Burch of Newport News Virginia, Kimberly Bennett (Arvin)Johnson of Hertford North Carolina, and Pamela Bacchus of Durham North Carolina; 5 brothers; Darren O. Bennett, Christopher Jordan, Ernest Jordan of Waterbury , William G Bennett of Cromwell and Timmy Jordan of Elizabeth City North Carolina. Joe was blessed with four grandchildren, Heaven Colbert, DeAndre Watts, Tai'lyn Bennett, Kam'Ron Brown; a very special friend, Kama Cherry Bennett; many nieces, nephews, and trillions of cousins. He was also predeceased by two sisters; Sharon Renee Bennett and Cortez Elizabeth Bennett.
Funeral services and Homegoing Ceremonies will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at 12 noon at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1987 East Main St. @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury Connecticut. Relatives and friends may visit with Joe's family for walk-through visitation only on Thursday from 11:00 till the service at noon. All state and federal recommendations for COVID #19 will be strictly enforced.
