Waterbury - John Atwood age 66, of Meriden Rd Waterbury, passed away peacefully at Saint Mary's Hospital on May 30, 2013 after a brief illness.
John was born February 27th 1947 in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late Harry George and Alice (Green) Atwood. He attended local schools and proudly served his country with the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked as a toolmaker at Winchester Electronics for many years and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. He was a member of the Oakville VFW post 7330.
Among his survivors are his daughter, Theresa Atwood of Waterbury, his brother Harry G. Atwood of CA his sister Loretta "Hope" Manford of MO, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins including Larry Regan who was like a brother to John.
A Memorial gathering for Mr. Atwood will be held on Friday, June 7th 2013 at Eastside Memorial, A CASEY FAMILY FUNERAL HOME AND TRIBUTE CENTER, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd, Waterbury, from 9:00 to 10:00 am. Graveside services and rites of committal will follow in the Connecticut Sate Veterans Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown.
