WOLCOTT - John J. Bacon age 55 of Wolcott, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 12, 2021 at home surrounded by the love and comfort of his family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of Robin (Lombardi) Bacon.
John was born January 29th 1966 in Meriden, CT, the son of Linda (Haesloop) Aker and the late Joseph Bacon. John was raised in Waterbury and was a graduate of Terryville High School and settled in the Wolcott area. John spent 35 years working as a residential program supervisor at Southbury Training School until his illness forced him into early retirement in April of 2020. John loved golf and was a member of the Sacred Heart Golf Committee since 2011. He loved spending time in Myrtle Beach where he enjoyed taking his Olde English Bulldog, Margaret "Maggie" Thatcher, for long walks along the beach. Other favorite pastimes John enjoyed was taking long drives, either on his motorcycle or in the car, helping out his friends and family, and being a wonderful role model for his son, Corey. John was a lifelong member of the NRA, a NY Mets and Miami Dolphin fan, and a parishioner of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. John has been very generous over the years making charitable donations to many charities including Wounded Warriors Project and Saint Jude's Children's Hospital.
The Bacon family would like to thank and acknowledge Dr. Yueming Chang and the staff at the Leever Cancer Center, Dr. Alex Palesty and the staff at St. Mary's Hospital, Janice Capocci and Jeannie Fontano at Vitas Hospice, as well as the village of off-duty nurses and medical staff who we are fortunate to call our friends for the wonderful care and love shared with him and his family during his illness.
