WATERBURY - John Cagno, age 69, of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly at Saint Mary's Hospital on Tuesday May 6th 2014 surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Cagno was born December 12th 1944 in Waterbury CT, the son of the late Bebe (Ouimette) Cagno. He grew up in Naugatuck and graduated from Naugatuck High School before joining the US Army where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. John spent several years working as a materials handler at Peter Paul, Cadbury before his retirement. He enjoyed sports and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and a dedicated follower of Peyton Manning. What John enjoyed most was spending time with his family, especially his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who affectionately called him "Poppy".
Among his survivors are his son; J.C. Kalinowski of Naugatuck, his three daughters; Audrey Atwood, Tina Petrillo, and Chaisty Start all of Waterbury as well as many grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services with full military honors will be held in Saint James Cemetery (Cross Street Naugatuck) on Monday May 19th at 11:00 a.m. Eastside Memorial, "A Casey Family Funeral Home and Tribute Center" 1987 East Main St. @ Southmayd Rd., Waterbury has been entrusted to assist the family with the arrangements.
