AT THE O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME OAKVILLE
Bethlehem CT John Joseph Calo Jr. age 62, of Bethlehem, died Friday, October 26, 2012 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Torrington, surrounded by his family after a brief illness.
John was born in Waterbury on March 1, 1950, the son of Nancy (Sullivan) Calo and the late John J. Calo Sr. He was a graduate of the former Woodbury High School and for many years was co-owner with his Dad and family of Calo Paint & Hardware in Oakville. John was intelligent, witty and often grumpy and loved to pass along gossip which made him perfect for his trade. A bartender for many years he was outstanding at his craft as he had a big heart and always cared more for others than himself.
In addition to his Mom, who cared for him and checked on his comfort and well-bring till the very end, John leaves his 4 brothers and 5 sisters. He loved them all and they all knew it and they will miss him, all the days of their lives. His brother, Joseph and his wife Nancy and their daughters, Abbie, Jimmo and Rebecca, his sister, Deborah Calo-Rigazio and her husband Randy and their daughter, Samantha Calo-Rigazio, his sister, Anne Calo and her husband the late Norman Evans and their children, Max and Nancy Evans, his sister MaryBeth and her children Andrew and Olivia Turner, his brother, James and his children, Jed, Sara Mormile and Jake, his brother, Jeff, his sister, Jeanne and her husband, Eric Witt and their daughters, Layla, Hannah, Kealy, and Camelia, his brother, Michael and his wife Angela and their children, Alexa and Michael and his sister, Jennifer and her husband Chris Holness and their daughters, Savannah and Gabrielle Holness and his brother-in-law John Tarleton and his daughters, Molly, Libby and Emily. He also leaves his Aunt Marie Generali and his grand nieces and nephews; Kallysta Fellows, Isaiah Calo-Rigazio and Nathan Mormile. John was predeceased by his sister, Kathleen Tarlton and nephew, Joshua Calo-Rigazio.
John also leaves behind good friends, the best who never left his side. They were always there to lend a hand. John's family cannot thank them all enough for their generosity and the never-ending support he received in the last months of his life. Thank You, everyone.
Funeral services for Mr. Calo will be private and will be held at the convenience of his family. A memorial gathering will be held at future time and date. The O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main St Oakville has been entrusted to assist the family with arrangements.
