WATERBURY - John Joseph Cronin Jr., age 77 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love and comfort of his family after a brief illness. He was the husband of Barbara Salerno Cronin.
John was born January 29th 1944 in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late John Joseph and Suzanne (Zorsky) Cronin Sr. and was a graduate of Croft High School. John spent 5 years working as a route salesman for Coca Cola before starting his career with Reymonds Baking Company where he also worked as a route salesman and retired as a sales coordinator after 34 years of services. During retirement John spent 13 years working as a bus driver for Durham Schools Bus services. John enjoyed waterskiing, taking vacations and always looked forward to his yearly trips to Florida where he enjoyed spending time with his family.
The Cronin family would like to thank and acknowledge Doctor Katosh and her colleagues at the Leever Cncer Center as well as Vitas Hospice, especially Sandra and Selena for the wonderful care and guidance they provided to John and his family during his illness.
Left to honor John's love and legacy and cherish the memories, besides wife, Barbara are his sons; John J. Cronin III and his wife, Marlene of Naugatuck, Richard Cronin of Waterbury, Kenneth Cronin and his wife, Ren of Florida and his stepson, Frank Salerno and his wife, Laura of Woodbury. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren; John J. Cronin IV, and his wife, Brandy, Heather Occhino and her husband, Jesse, Michael Cronin and his significant other, Patricia, Jamie Cronin, Kalyn Roth and her husband, Steven, Kenneth Cronin and his wife, Caroline, and Kevin Cronin. He also leaves two step grandchildren; Elizabeth and Jack Salerno, his sister, Margaret Lenkowski and his sister in laws; Marion Spagnoletti and Jeanne Argenta as well as his 15 great grandchildren nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Mr. Cronin will be held on Friday, February 26th 2021 at 10:30 a.m. from Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury to Mary Mother of the Church Parish, Saints Peter and Paul Campus where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. A walk-through visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. All requirements concerning COVID #19 will be strictly enforced.
