MIDDLEBURY - John A. Daunis Sr. age 77 of Middlebury, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 2nd 2018 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of the late Carol (Burritt) Daunis.
John was born July 20, 1940 in Waterbury CT, the son of the late Anthony and Mildred (Danisavage) Daunis and attended local schools. John spent many years working for A & P Grocery retiring as a Produce Manager in 2008. He was an avid card player and enjoyed listening to oldies radio music and attending performances. John always looked forward to his weekly lunch meeting with his good friends; Buddy Dostler and the late John Bunnell.
Among his survivors are his children, John Daunis Jr. and his wife, Joan of Thomaston, Jeffrey and his wife, Christin of Ft Myers, FL. Jason Daunis and his girlfriend, Jill Wudkewych of Grand Rapids, MI and Tracey Cassidy and her husband, Brian of Middlebury. In addition, he also leaves his sisters; Theresa "Teri" Zenni of Southbury, and Elizabeth Malesky and her husband, Frederick of Wolcott, as well as his nine grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Daunis and his sister, Mary Levasseur.
Funeral Services for Mr. Daunis will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St. @ Southmayd Rd. Waterbury. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with John's family on Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00pm at the funeral home.
