CHESHIRE - John F Geary, age 91, passed away peacefully during the early morning on April 3, 2020, at LiveWell in Plantsville (Southington). He was the husband of Maryann "Mickie" (Masone) Geary.
John was born July 27, 1928 in Waterbury a son of the late Matthew Sr. and Sara (Gilmartin) Geary. John was the second-youngest of seven brothers & sisters and graduated Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury before achieving his bachelor's degree in Business from Providence College (a big "Friars" fan!). Having proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War, he began working for NCR Corporation in Waterbury in 1954, becoming a successful salesperson as well as sales manager throughout the Northeast USA, eventually returning to CT to retire in 1994. While having moved his family's residence from CT to Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and eventually back to CT, John was very active in his community, proudly serving at The Columbus House ("soup kitchen") in New Haven (through St. George Church in Guilford). He was also a very active member of the "Breakfast Club" Mens' group through the Mercy Center in Madison and was extremely well loved and respected by all members. John was very athletic, having played baseball in high school. He also loved golf and tennis and was a member of many golf and tennis clubs including Clinton Country Club. Few things gave John more pleasure than watching the Championships at Wimbledon! He was a parishioner of St Bridget of Sweden parish in Cheshire. Everyone who met John always considered him to be a true and genuine gentleman.
Left to cherish his memory and honor his love and legacy, besides his loving wife of 61 years are his children; sons, Michael and his wife, Andrea of Southington and Mark of Philadelphia, PA, his daughter. Moira Miller and her husband, Steve of Raritan, NJ. John and Mickie were blessed with four grandchildren; Katie, Kailey, Mitchell, & Matthew and their great-granddaughter, Mila, as well as many nieces and nephews . He was predeceased by his siblings; Matthew (Jr.), Reverend Mark, Mary, Ellen, Dominica, & Delores.
