"Proud Veteran and Loving Father "

WOLCOTT- John Joseph Hoban, 84 of Wolcott, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2021 at The VITAS Innovative Care Unit of St. Mary's Hospital.

John was born on March 8, 1937 in Scranton, PA, son of the late James and Lillian
(McGrath) Hoban. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Claudette Vaillancourt in St. Pius X Church in Wolcott on Jan. 17, 1957. They were blessed with 2 children; Kevin and Karen Hoban of Wolcott who will remember, cherish and honor him. John spent the majority of his career in the fire protection industry as a leader of the Waterbury Fire Extinguisher Co. He also enjoyed investing in small rental property instead of the stock market which he believed involved more risk. John also enjoyed travel with his family in his younger years. Watching sports like football, boxing and UFC Mixed Martial Arts was a joy for him. He also loved his 2 Mini daschunds; Lilly and Daisy. John was a very generous and giving person with a heart of gold and will be dearly missed by all those who loved him.

In addition to his children, John leaves his sisters; Margaret Meier of Essex, CT, Joan Baltmiskis of Charleston, NC and brother, Gerald Hoban of Yuma, AZ. He was also predeceased by two sisters; Gloria Sutherland of Gilbert, AZ, Patricia Lapoint of Waterbury, brothers, Robert Hoban of West Haven and James Hoban.

Funeral Services for Mr. Hoban will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Casey's Eastside Memorial 1987 East Main St. Waterbury at 11:00 A.M. Friends and relatives may visit with the Hoban Family from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Until the greater Waterbury area reaches a 70% threshold of vaccinated population, those visiting the funeral home are requested to remain masked while inside or attending services.
