Beacon Falls - John "Jack" Stephen Chaivanik age 66 of Beacon Falls, passed away unexpectedly at his home of December 25th 2014.
Jack was born April 2, 1948 in Waterbury, CT the son of the late George and Margaret (Liput) Chaivanik. He was a graduate of Kennedy High School and proudly serving his country with the US Navy as a member of the Seabees during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart during his service. Upon returning to the Waterbury area, Jack began his career as a firefighter with the Waterbury Fire Department where he was affectionately known as "Shecky", retiring from Engine 11 in 1994 after many years of service. He enjoyed fishing and was a long time member of the Waterbury Elks Lodge #265 and a member of the VFW post 7790.
Among his survivors are his brother, George "Chip" Chaivanik and his wife Kathy of Terryville as well as his niece Stacy Brites and her husband Bryan and their son Brandon, two nephews Steven Chaivanik and Scott Chaivanik and his wife Myra and their sons Tyler and Cole.
Funeral services for Mr. Chaivanik will be held privately at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
